Private music for all to hear.

August 25, 2010.  Wednesday.

Just started this blog...I know, according web etiquette (and, yes, I do believe it still exists) that's a bad start, like being born.  On other hand, it can only get better from here, especially if no one pays attention to my blog (a distinct possibility).

Anyhow, I've started this blog as a way to motivate myself to finish that EP I've been meaning to finish for...oh...two years now.  I suppose it's the web equivalent of wearing a Post-It on my back that reads "Kick Me."  I know it's not literally the same.  Once I allow comments on this site, I'm sure trolls will rush in to fill in the gap. ("You suck!"  "Do you write this in your mom's basement?" "Dude, you're a sissy!" "Show us titties.")

This blog has a second purpose and that's to provide a detailed, behind the scenes look at how I make my music.  Ultimately, I'd like to include these entries with, perhaps, extra material and, perhaps, less motherfucking vulgarity for the WalMart crowd for inclusion on a physical CD as a kind of Behind The Music type of documentary.  Just without the drugs and incest.  (Did anybody notice that the Courtney Love episode had enough drugs and incest to fill their quota for the rest of the season?  It was like watching an episode of "Intervention" only without hope.)

But I digress.

This is my first entry.  I am determined to stay on course and motivate myself to be creative and update this blog.  I will, in the upcoming months weeks days hours load up sketches of a song I'm currently work on called "Palindrome Variations."  It consists of musical phrases, none longer than 8 bars, that are mirror images of each other, or play first normally then play again but the notes in reverse order.  I plan to put up screengrabs of the score to make it easier to understand.  Anycase, I'm logging out.  Got life...to live...and stuff...Ahem.

OK, bye.  1:16pm

August 28, 2010.  Saturday.

Haven't written music because I've been obsessing on material related to music release. Things like copyright & distribution, matters that are essensial for protecting and benefitting from publically released music. But the music doesn't exist yet, at least, not enough of it to satisfy me. (I know I could split hairs and question the criteria I'm using to be finally 'satisfied.' For example, I could write 4 songs and reject them, prompting me to write 4 more. In theory, it's a practice that could continue indefinately, turning the creative act into a ritual of futility.) I'm going to try again. After I'm done writing...whatever I write today, I may backtrack to the germ of the song I've been working on with a video and/or audio clip and appropirate commentary. I'm been wanting, meaning, hoping, to do just that and haven't.

A blog should be like a journal only more high-tech, more neat than what pen and paper can create. I do not want this blog to be a substitute for the very subject the blog is dedicated to. Irony, indeed.

Note to self: Look again into using WordPress to organize blog's format. (I've been using GoDaddy's own, quickie, one size fit all interface and finding it very clunky.) I haven't downloaded their software because their website doesn't load up properly. Plenty of pictures of misssing. In spite of many good reviews I find it ironic than an application to set up a website's format is available on a website that looks like it was set up by an amateur.

Bye. 1:08pm
